The North Carolina Minority and Women Business Enterprise (MWBE) Coordinators’ Network offers a voluntary professional certification program for public supplier diversity professionals called the Certified Economic Inclusion Officer (CEIO) program. To obtain CEIO certification, applicants must, among other things, complete this course and pass an examination administered by the School of Government.

With the assistance of the School of Government, courses are offered that will meet some of the eligibility criteria set forth below. Individuals seeking CEIO certification will demonstrate sufficient knowledge, abilities, and experience in legal requirements and practical aspects of administering a MWBE, historically underutilized business (HUB) or disadvantaged business enterprise (DBE) program in the State of North Carolina.

Certification Requirements

  • must be a Network member in good standing
  • have two years of experience in the public supplier diversity profession
  • complete the three-course pathway (see below)
  • attend at least one Network Annual Conference
  • pass all sections of the CEIO certification examination
  • earn 100 certification points

The application cycle is from September 1 to October 1. Applications are due by 11:59 PM on October 1 for certification or the exam in the following year.
