Tax collectors, assessors, and mappers are subject to varying certification requirements and opportunities.  School of Government courses, and many others, are part of the Property Tax Education Partnership, a collaboration between the School of Government and the North Carolina Department of Revenue. This partnership offers the certification and continuing education necessary to meet legislative educational requirements for appraisers. The partnership promotes public service excellence and professional development for assessment administration, property appraisal, collection, and property tax policy. The School of Government supports but does not oversee any property tax certification programs. For details on or questions about requirements of property tax certifications, visit the website for the relevant certifying organization.
