Tax collectors, assessors, and mappers have different certification requirements and opportunities. The School of Government, in partnership with the North Carolina Department of Revenue, offers these opportunities through the Property Tax Education Partnership.
This partnership provides appraisers with the necessary certification and continuing education to fulfill legislative education requirements.

It also promotes excellence in public service and professional development in such areas as assessment administration, property appraisal, collections, and property tax policy. While the School of Government supports property tax certification programs, it does not oversee them. For more information or questions about property tax certification requirements, visit the relevant certifying organization’s website.
